Bio:
Originally from the small town of Zahl in northwestern North Dakota, Al
Sandvold was raised on his family's farm/ranch. Al's rural upbringing
instilled in him a lifelong respect for the sport of rodeo. Al began his career
fighting bulls in 1992 for well known stock contracting families such as:
Abrahamson, Brettin, and Berger. In 1995, he earned his Professional Rodeo
Cowboys Association card and reached professional status. Since that time
Al has been fortunate enough to have worked many of Pro Rodeo's biggest
events.
During the years of 1999 and 2000, Al was part of the Wrangler Bullfight Tour
and qualified for the National Finals Rodeo. In 2000, Al made a serious run at
a World Championship. While finishing Number 3, he did take home 5
regular season tour stop championships that year.
Known more for his cowboy protection, he has been selected by the
bullriders to work eleven circuit finals. Al is proud to have been selected to
work the highly coveted Dodge National Circuit Finals twice. He has been
working some rodeos for over a dozen years.
When Al isn't saving cowboys, he works in the aviation industry as the Line
Manager at Yellowstone Jetcenter in Belgrade, MT. This allows him to follow
another one of his passions, aviation. Al is a certified private pilot and loves
to fly almost as much as fighting bulls.
The consummate professional, Al prides himself on being an athlete inside
and outside of the arena. He brings an unsurpassed level of class to every
event he attends.
Al makes his home in Belgrade, Montana along with his wife, Mary, and their
three children.
In 2009, Al was honored to be nominated by his peers for PRCA Bullfighter of
the Year.
